How this is counted

For each live story we take every publisher's first article on it. Publishers whose first article is within the last 6 hours are new arrivals; the rest had it already. Stories with fewer than 2 new arrivals are left out. The order is new arrivals divided by the square root of the earlier count plus one, so breadth of new interest counts more than sheer size.
