Corrections and changes

Headlines, summaries and market matches here are produced by software and are not reviewed by a person, so mistakes happen. This is the record of the ones we have found and what we did about them. Dates are US Pacific.

Log

  1. The footer and About page said headlines and summaries were written by us.

They are written by an AI language model with no human review. Every story now says so under its summary, and /how-it-works explains what the model does and how little it is checked.

  2. Thousands of story pages carried one publisher's headline reworded in a sentence, with no market and no second source.

Those pages are now marked noindex and left out of the sitemaps, so search engines are not offered them. They are still readable and linked.

  3. A change in how prices were published stopped the site updating for about 2.5 days (10–12 October).

The query that broke was fixed, and an independent uptime monitor now alerts within about ten minutes if publishing stops.

Report an error

Use "Wrong match?" under any market on a story page, or write to newsmarkets@simbasystems.com with the page address and what is wrong. We read every report. A confirmed error is fixed and, if it was more than a one-off, added to this log.

How often the software is wrong is measured, not guessed: see how accurate NewsMarkets is.
